A DLNERIN telegram informs ns that William Penrose, a draper, was limyl £SO and costs .for selling a, skein of wool at an unreasonably high price. The sale was made at 2s 2d when the acknowledged retail price-was Is 4MI to Is (id. The Board of Trade is now getting down to business, and if (he womenfolk would only assist (he Board by sending along proof of overcharging on purchases, instead of getting annoyed and healing the air. the Board would at once get right after the profiteer, even if the purchase is n packet of pins. The giving of information to the Board does not necessarily mean that the informant must give evidence, (he Board will lake steps to satisfy itself that profiteering exists before it brings an action. The Board relies on the public for assistance, and unless it is in possession of information it. cannot- take action. The Government has supplied the machinery (o stop profiteering if the public will onlv use it.
