CORRESPONDENCE.
I To the Editor.)
Sir. —1 notice that there >s a drop of 2d per lb. in the price of leather, and also that Premier Massey said in Parliament that there would be a drop in the price of boots. As a. working man 1 would like to know when the drop in hoot repairs and the drop in the retail price of hoots will eventuate. When the price of leather went up (he price of hoots went up in sympathy, although it didn’t affect hoots in stock. Now Sir, when there is a drop in leather 1 hope the prices will come down in .-empathy. When a wage-earner has to provide half-a-dozen pairs of boots ,a year for his family he is entitled'to a fair deal both ways. There are a few like myself who wo'nld he pleased to hear of a few other drops in necessaries other than hoots, which Air Alassey says will come after the Christmas trade is over. But what has the Christ- 1 mas trml# got to do with it? It’s no use blaming Holland, Eraser and Co. for industrial unrest and dissatisfaction when the workers are exploited by merchants and retailers. Thanking you in anticipation. —Yours, etc.,
WORKER
