A gleam of humour from Ireland is welcome in these troublous days, and it comes in the story of a fancy dress hall “hold-up” at Rosslaro Strand Hotel.
•A large party of armed and masked men raided the ballroom and compelled the guests to hold up their hands and face the wall. A number of military and naval' officers were searched, and then compelled to leave, being informed by the leader of the raiding party that social intercourse with people was denied the Army of Occupation.
Several ladies also were sent home on the grounds that they were insufficiently clad.
The dance broke up abruptly
