Mr Tver has received a letter from Mr Arthur Whitaker, hon. secretary of the Palmerston Chess Club, asking if lie could form a team to meet a few players from the Palmerston Club. Mr Tver is advertising in this issue, inviting players to meet: at: his house on Monday evening, at 7.30 o’clock. It; would be interesting to see this learn formed, as for many years Foxton has been without its representatives of this most scientific of all games. It is believed there are many players in and around Foxlon who are “lying low.’-’
