THE STRANDED KENNEDY.
There is very little fresh to ro■ior( in connection with the stranded s.s. Kennedy at the south entrance to the river. It is proposed lo remove portion of the hemp cargo in order to lighten her. She is embedded in about 3 feet of sand. A new wire rope has been secured for hauling, and preparations are being made lo get her off on the spring tides early next week. As far as can he ascertained there is no material damage lo the vessel oilier than Hie propeller and rudder. Mr W. Signal is supervising Hie refloating operations. The recent Hood has caused a strong current at the south spit, and it is this fact, together with a strong sou’-wester, that was responsible for the vessel’s stranding. It is anticipated that the refloating operations will be successful.
