PLANTS WITH NERVES.
-The tael that plants have been shown to have a nerve spot or focus of irritation recalls a story that met with much incredulity when it was printed in these columns some years ago, says the Daily News. A gentleman said that as he sat reading in his verandah one sunny afternoon near a pillar up which a creeper was growing, the plant came down from its place, and he was astounded after about an hour to find it climbing round his foot, instead of the post. The suggestion that plants possess perception of some kind or other puts the- story in quite a new light. The question, “Do plants feel 1 ?” was solved quite nicely for himself by a little boy. He was admonished for pulling the tops of flowers, and, asked how he would like to be be-' headed. “It’s only like having then? hair cut,” he said, “and I don’t mind that.”
