WATER AND DRAINAGE.
• WORK TO BE ■< IMMEDIATELY. • J A Mr H. IT. Climie, of Messrs Cliniie ami Son, the engineers appointed by the loeai Borough Council To carry out the water and drainage works for the borough, arrived in Eoxton on Thursday, to make arrangements for commencing the work. A special meeting of the Council■ was held on Thursday night to confer with Mr Climie, at which the Mayor and all the Councillors were present. Mr Climie said lie proposed to start next week pegging out the work on the ground and taking the levels, and while this work was going on the specifications will be prepared for the material and plant required to enable tenders to be called.for same without delay. He had no doubt whatever that the work would he carried out inside the estimate submitted. The Mayor said the debentures fur the first £IO,OOO of the loan had come to hand. 'These were in denominations of £I,OOO, and the money could he drawn in these amounts as required, interest only being paid on the amounts as they were received.
Several questions by Councillors in reference to the carrying out of I lie wort: wore answered by Mr Climic, and the. meeting then terminated.
