THE WEATHER.
A BIG FLOOD,
AA'ilh the heavy rains during the past few days, the river is in high flood, and indications point to the biggest Hood this year. The road on the Shannon side of the bridge is under water, and the river is still rising, and ft is still raining heavily at AA T oodville!
A report from AVoodville at 9.15 o'clock this morning advises: —River eight feet above normal, rising rapidly and raining heavily. A further report at 10.40 was as follows: —River still rising rapidly, raining heavily. Palmerston North reports at 11.40 a.m.: “River eleven feet above normal here."
Tho hank at Mouloa, near Mr C. Spring's, below I he Shannon bridge, broke this morning, and the Hoo>l water is nonring into Ihe low-lying country adjacent to the river there. A report received from AAoodville as we go to press intimates that the river is 911. bin. above normal, and is still rising. Rain continues to fall steadily.
