SCHOOL BUILDINGS
WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD'S PROGRAMME.
At the media!;’ of flic Wanganui Education Board on Wednesday the Board's architect submitted the following summary of works which hare received attention from Jann!iry Ist, 1.920, to dale, and buildings which Rave vet to be dealt with: —
Eight new buildings have been creeled and three additions have been made, at an approximate east of £13,525. Twenty-four buildings have either been repaired or painted during the same period at an approximate cost of £2,000. Expenditure on school .furniture, limber for shop and running expenses totals £1,500. For the nine months the expend!-' litre on paints and hardware matrials for buildings was £I,OOO. Throe new buildings are in hand, and nearing completion. Approximate east of same is £17,070. Five Jmildings are either undergoing repairs or painting. Approximate cost is £572. Grants amounting to £23,119 haw) been received for the erection of nine new buildings, improvements to teachers’ residences and the erection of out-buildings and drainage work at Foxton. Of this number the materials for live have been ordered, and arc either on or being carted to (he site.
.Applications have been made for grants amounting to £12,495 foiythe erection of eight new buildings. Application has yet to be made for grants totalling £111,400 for the erection of six new buildings. Fifty buildings are upon the list for either repairs or painting. In. most cases the repairs are of a very minor na 1 are.
