AERIAL FLIGHT
FIRST MACHINE TO PASS OVER FOXTOX. Ciiptain Russell, in Mosers Walsh Urns.’ JOO-h.p. Avi’o machine, passed over Foxton at 11.10 a.in. to-day, eu route from Trent ham to Wanganui. The aviator lei I Trentham at 10.7 a.in. The news that the machine was to lly over Eoxlon ■was quickly cireulated, and nearly every one were on the look-out. The droning of the engines gave ampfe warning ui' s its approach, and a splendid view was obtained as it glided like a bird through the air at a- height of probably some four thousand foot. Its course was followed until it disappeared from view. The school children, many of whom had never before seen an aeroplane, watched its progress wilh considerable interest and delight. The weather conditions for Hying were ideal in this quarter, except for a few cloud banks, through ■which the machine appeared to penetrate, but was probably Jiving above. The first flight of a- maeldne abow Ibis district will be long remembered by those who witnessed it. DETAILS OF THE FLIGHT. Wellington, This Afternoon. (Special to “Herald.") Captain Russell, in the Avro machine, completed the W ellingtonW’auganui nonstop flight in 72 minutes. He left Fetoue at 10.7, over Fiimmerlon 10.113, Faekakariki 1(1.20, Wuikauae 10.24, Olaki 10,34, Levin 10.43, Foxton 10.50, Turn kina 11.10, arrived 'Wanganui 11,19.
