FOXTON FIRES.
THREE YEA RS’ FOR M l GABLE RECORD. The following ,is the somewhat formidable list of premises destroyed by fire during the past, three years in Foxton. .Most of the buildings and stocks were insured, but the total loss over and above reaches several thousands of pounds:— J. Nelson’s residence, Johnston Street. W. Jane’s residence, Coley Street. Foxton Cordage Works, Johnston Street. Whyte’s Hotel,'Main Street. Aloutoa Buildings (ineluding the business premises of Mr J. M. Bapr, draper; E. Wanklyn’s billiard saloon; Walls’ baker and confectioner: Airs Teviotdale’s rooms. Public School, Park Street. E. 'Walker’s residence, Russell Street. Royal Picture Theatre, billiard saloon and shop, Clyde Street. A. E. Admore's shop and residence, Clyde. Street. J. Reid’s residence, Gladstone Street. Air Hart's residence, Fuller Street. Railway Cottage, Wharf Street. Mr Collins’ residence, Alain Street. Stevenson’s Cordial Factory, White Street. D. McCauley's residence, Johnston Street. Air Jonson’s residence, Avenue Road. L. Gibbs’ Star Mill, river’hank. Business block' in Alain Street, including Perreau’s residency and shop; Alattar, tobacconist; Ryder’s boot shop; S. Hudson, fruiterer; and the C. M. Ross drapery establishment. Boating Club sited, river bunk. Racing Club office, Main Street, Municipal Chambers and Public Library.
Arrangements have been made for one of the cloakrooms (upstairs) of the Town Hall to lie used as an office for the Town Clerk, and the usual council business hours will be observed.
