LYRIC COSTUME COMEDY CO.

AT FO.XTON, ' No more talented organisation of its kind has ever set out on tour than the Lyric Quartette and Costume Comedy Co., who are announced to appear at the Town Hail on Wednesday next, fith inst. Making a feature of unaccompanied part stigiug, they have brought it to a fine art, and nothing more delightful and appealing could be imagined than this perfect blend of voices so sensitive to light and shade. The members arc Messrs Arthur Ripley (first tenor),. Herbert Richards (second tenor), J. W. Ryan (bass), and Allan MeElwain, and their unity is expressed in their' well-nigh faultless interpretations. Mr MeElwain is also responsible for the humorous section, having a. limitless range of entertaining proclivities, and he achieves one of the biggest successes of the programme. The separate vocal attainments of Messrs Ripley, Richards and Ryan aijf of the highest standard, and their singing creates a most favourable impression. Adequate support is given by Miss Jessie Bartlett, a rich toned contralto with a magnetic personality, Miss Evelyn Harvey, whose capabilities on the piano and violin are disclosed, and Miss ‘Doreen M'cClatchy, solo dansouse. There should he a crowded attendance at the entertainment.
