CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir. —I saw by your report of the Chamber of Commerce that that body is still keeping the matter before the Council. Well, Sir, I do not; Avish to trespass, but to ma,kc a suggestion for the consideraliou of. the Council —and it must come sooner or later, so why not now? It is patent to the genera! public that our road staff needs doubling. For verification one has only to walk the streets and see the various works Avhieh are put in hand, and just as the jobs are started, the staff has to leave then 1 and do the snme thing in other streets, with the result that work begun spoils for the want of being finished. I mean no reflection on the staff, but just conjure up the miles of streets that two men are expected to improve and keep in order. Very Avell, increase the staff, and during days to he arranged one of the staff could perform the Avork required in the shifting of rubbish, while Avork of giving the people better paths and streets Avould he pushed on, and jobs that are started left only when finished. To the powers that he I pass the above suggestion. —Yours, etc., ADVANCE.
