ALLEGED CONTEMPT OF COURT

(!. V. PEARCE CENSURED. Wellington, Sept. 25. There was strong comment in the Chamber proceedings before the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, by Mr Myers, counsel for Mrs Pearce in the successful action for di\ T orcc against G. V. Pearce, ox-member for Patea, on the absence of respondent, Avho was alleged to have committed a flagrant contempt of Court, through being a parly to the youngest daughter, Hazel Pearce, leaving the Dominion against an order of the Court giving the mother custody of the daughter.

It: was alleged Hint the Government granted the daughter a permit to leave the Dominion, despite representations that it immlved contempt; of Court. Sir Robert Stout adjourned the matter for a fortnight to enable communication to lie made Avith Pearce, who is now supposed to be in Japan.
