BUTTER SHORTAGE PROBABLE.
Replying, in the House yesterday, to a question, the Prime Minister said that his information was to the > effect that the stocks of would last about another week. The dillieulty was, however, not so much in connection with the Butter Committee, as owing to the fact that it was a very late spring and a more than usual mortality amongst dairy stock. He believed that it would be fully three weeks before enough butter was produced in the Dominion for its own requirements. It was fully expected that after' next week there would he- a shortage of 1 butter, and that the people would have to exercise economy. He could not speak as to the price of. butter until after the committee had reported; but, until then, he did not think there would be any alteratioa in the price. ,
