ROBBERY IN WELLINGTON.
BANK NOTES STOLEN. A boardinghouse in Willis Street, Wellington, w:is the scene of n big robbery hist week, n sum of C3UO iu bunk notes being stolen from ;i boarder's bedroom. The erime urns commit fcm! while the person to whom the notes beiobged wns nlisent in the bathroom having a shave. The .0100 was made up ol' notes of various denominations, including .C2O, TUI, and .i'u, and as soon as they were missed the police were informed. Apparently some of the notes were circulated inßelone, for the police there made investigations and learned that a person had got rid of two or three and had afterwards proceeded to Palmerston North by motor car. Further iinjuirie-. were made, and subsequenl!y the police at Auckland effected the arrest of a man named Hubert Burgess, who was charged with having stolen (ho notes. When apprehended the accused had note-' in his possession to the value of .CISO. The accused will be tried in Wellington, and will probably be brought up before the .Magistrate's Court there earlv this week.
