SMALLPOX.

OUTBREAK NEAR ASHBFRTON. According (o a message, live,eases of smallpox of Hu. American type have been reported at Huntingdon, near Ashburton. The infection has been traced from (Hugo through a schoolmaster. Three of the eases are school children, and most of the 40 contacts also. The district health officer, who investigated yesterday, says flic smallpox is in a very mild form, hut (he strictest precautions have been taken, including the vaccination of the contacts.
