HOROAVHENUA 34 v. RANGITIKEI 0. Unfortunately Rangitikei was not able to send a strong team to Levin on Saturday in the return match, says the Chronicle, and the local reps, had :» runaway win by 34 points to nil. The game was somewhat one-sided, and lacked the excitement of some of the local club matches. The visitors hail a fair set of forwards, and their hookers were very successful in getting the ball, lint their back division was wanting in combination, and throughout the afternoon attempted very little concerted play. Some of their backs however, stood out well for dashing individual play, Pratt and Payne being specially worthy of notice. ' Tn the early stages Rangitikei had at least two good scoring chances, which were missed, Iml as the game advanced their opportunities faded, and at the finish they were a badly beaten side. Horowhenua made an early start to give a good open display, but much of the preliminary work of the backs went wrong through bad handling. However, they kept til it, and the passing improved, and in the second spell few mistakes occurred, the result being that Horowhenua scored six tries in the last half, as against two in the first. Dal/.ell was a notable absentee from the local forwards, his place being taken by Rowlands, ol I’okomaru. The [mck played a dashing game in the loose, Jacob again making plenty of openings for the backs. Kangi Broughton, Sands and Frame were always prominent. Page was not at his best behind Hie serum, and Ims played better games. 'The rest of the backs worked well together, Ford getting in some good work, whilst on the wing T. Moynihan showed’plenty of dash. For llorowheima tries were scored by Jacob (2), Ford (2), Page, Haka’raia, Rowlands, and L. McDonald. Mr Horn Karauti was the referee.
