OBITUARY.
F. L, .MARTIN—AGED 58.
Tbe death occurred on Sunday afternoon of Mr Frederick Leonard Martin, a resident of this district of very man\ years standing. The deceased had been ill bad health for sever.-i! year.--, being a victim of heart trouble, and of laic had ais-o suffered from dropsy, and although, ids death was not unexpected, his end came with tragic He had a particularly bad turn towards the end of the week, hut appealed slightly heller again on Saturday afternoon. He was visited at his house by several friends on Sunday, one of whom left him at the door about twenty minutes pa-1 live. About a quarter of an hour later, a neighbour, Mr .S. E. Cowley, on going over with ©mine refreshment for him, found his dead body on the garr den path, he having apparently been struck down with a heart seizure. The late Mr Marlin was about 58 years of age, and came from England to New Zealand 32 years ago, and has resided in Foxton ever since. He took it keen interest in all sports, and for many years was a, prominent cricket player in this district. only retiring from the game when his health was such that he could not continue. He also took a, keen interest in athletics, and although not a Rugby player himself, was always a keen supporter of the game. He had no relatives in New Zealand. The funeral took place this afternoon, the ceremony at the graveside being performed by the Rev. Air Walton.
