CAPTAIN DICKSON FLIES BACK
’WELLINGTON TO BLENHEIM JN
THE HOUR
Captain Evan of the Canterbury Aviation Company, who flew ii]) from Christchurch to Blenheim and across Cook Strait to Trent ham on Wednesday lasi, took advantage of a spell of line weather to reeross (he Strait to Blenheim on Saturday afternoon. The weather did not look very propitious on Saturday morning, hut the eondiliims improved towards (lie afternoon, and the wind swung to a more favourable quarter. The pilot, with his He Rhone 110 h.p. engined Avro, left Trentham at 3.10 p.m., and, making a beeline over the Tinakori Hills, successfully completed the return trip in the record time of 05 minutes, landing at Blenheim at -1.25.
A message fypm Blenheim states that fie raced a. bank of clouds on the way, hut otherwise made a fine passage. He proposes to return to Christchurch probably to-day or tomorrow.
