The Mayor (Mr .John Chrysla.il) has received a very favourable report in reference to the visit of the delegates (Messrs MeMamuvay and Walker) of (lie Marlon-Levin Railway League, to the Taranaki province. The delegates visited and addressed meetings at Patea. ITawera, Eltham, ami Stratford, at which centres the proposed linkingup of the main trunk lines a< advocated by the League received enthusiastic support. The Wanganui Borough (jounc'd, by a majority of one vole,burned down active parti-
eipation. * ’The delegates will visit towns aiong (lie Main Trunk line as far north as Taiimarnnni next Aveek.
It may be mentioned that the delegates are only charging out-of-pocket expenses, and as a result tlie Taranaki mission only cost thirteen guineas. The delegates are very pleased with the splendid support and interest evinced in this national work.
