SIX OFFENDERS FINED

At yesterday's sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr J. L. Stout, 8.M., George Blanche, who did not appear, was charged with being found on licensed premises when such premises are required by law to be (dosed. Constable Woods slated I hat on the evening of August 7th lie visited the Family Hotel and found accused in the passage. He was slightly under the influence of liquor, and was knocking on the wall. When asked what he was doing there, defendant said: “I suppose I am caught!” Neither the licensee of the hotel or his wife were on the.. premises, at the time, both being at the pictures.

The police asked that the full penalty be indicted in these cases, as they were pelting of a very frequent occurrence. Defendant was convicted and lined £2, with costs 7s. Edward Boyle, E. alls, .V. Saxon, C. Nelson, and IV. Jones were similarly charged. None of the defendant- appeared at the Court.
