FOOTBALL.

THE THIRDS ENTERTAINED.

On Wednesday evening last, Mrs Small entertained the members and officials of the Third Grade Football'Chib at a very enjoyable dinner, Avhieh was followed by a musical evening. AI the close of the dinner Mr D. Ball, captain of the team, thanked Mrs Small on behalf of the team for her kindness, which, he said, was greatly appreciated. He said that it was not the first time that the hostess had shown an interest in the younger players, as well as a general interest in all football matters. Her interest would inspire the team to make il one of the host in this union. He then called for three hearty cheers for the hostess. Mr Hynes, the team’s coach, endorsed the first speaker’s lemarks, and proposed the toast of “The II ostess.” After a few songs had been rendered, Mr Hynes again thanked Mrs Small for her kindness, The boys then sang “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,’’ and went homo feeling very happy after then* evening’s enjoyment.

The Horowhenua Rugby Union has decided to invite Mr F. Whibjey. of Foxton, to join the management committee.
