This match was played on the ioeal ground, and Ihe result was never in doubt, the local team outclassing their opponents in all departments of the game, and the .-core, 31 to nil, is a fair indication of the strength of the teams, Foxton was at a disadvantage in being without the services of both tiveeighlhs, Reid and llakaraia, but the substitutes, Ball and Kere Carter, both played well. In the Jirst spell Poxton put on Ki points, and a further 15 in the second half. Mr W. Neville refereed, and gave entire satisfaction.

The schools seyen-a-side competition for the Pirani Shield was played at Palmerston North on Sblurday, and was won hy the 'Foxton team, which emerged from the contest with an unbeaten record. This is the second year in succession that the Foxton jmys have won the Shield. The final this year was played between Foxton and the Palmerston North Convent teams, an 4 added interest was lent to the hy the fact that the first register a score would he the winner, and (lie game at once terminate. Also a force-down counted a score to the opposing team. The hoys played with dash, and it was evident that there were several fast players among them. The game was brought to a spectacular finish, Christie (Foxton) got possession at the visitor’s twenty-live, avoided two home players, and started on a run with about three-quarters of the length of the held to traverse. The Convent boys gave chase, but Christie's running powers wore equal to , the occasion, and with a brilliant effort he secured for his team the necessary score to make them winners of the tournament, and the game terminated. Air Hone McMillan, selector of the Horowhcnua junior representative team, was present at Saturday’s match on Easton Park, between Foxton and Kuku. The Horowhenun junior reps, play Manawatu on the 28lh, and will also play a return match with Wellington (bis year. Foxton should be particularly well represented in the rep. team, as in addition to (hose who have already been selected in previous matches, lieid, M'oses, Taylor, Baker and M. liobinson, and who, if available, are certain of inclusion in the future. ' Cook (forward) and S. Barber (wing forward) should also be selected, as they are both playing particularly; well. It is unfortunate that Hnkaraiu (five-eighths) was not- playing on Saturday, when the selector was present, as his form jl throughout the season has been sneli ■ ■ that .-liould assure him a place’ ■in the Horowhenua (earn. The team will he finally selected after next Saturday’s games.

Next Safurday's junior match, Foxton v. Waikanae, to lie phiyod ai. Levin, should be one of the best frames of the season. When these teams last met Fox ton won by three points to nil, after one of (he best exhibitions of football seen in this district for some time. Salunjay’s frame will practically decide the junior championship, and at present Foxlon is one point ahead of Waikamu. 1 , and a win on Saturday for them will put the result of the competition beyond doubt.
