THE Immigration Restriction' Bill now before Parliament provides that “livery person of Ihe aye of 15 yea its or over is required (;o lake an oath before entering’ the Dominion, and this applies not only to new arrivals, whether visitors or prospective settlers, but also to persons domiciled in New Zealand, or returning to New Zealand, whether they have taken the o;Mh before or not. The only exceptions are members of ■♦British land and sea forces, the oftieers and crew of a ship of war, or of a merchant ship, and a,(‘credited of Government. British subjects by birth or parentage or naturalisation are required to lake the oath of allegiance, which is defined in the Uromissary Oaths Act, as follows: —‘I, , do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King George the Fifth, Ids heirs and successors, according to law, So he!]) me God.” The form of oath for other than British subjects is set out in the Bill as follows: “P , being a subject of , do swear that 1 will faithfully observe and obey the la’ws of New Zealand so long'as 1 shall be resident ni New Zealand, and I shall not in any manner aid or abet any breach of any such laws, and that I will not be concerned in any manner directly or indirocllv in any act which would be disloyal to His Majesty King George V., if committed by a subject of His said Majesty. So help me God.”
