THE MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE,
EVIDENCE BE PORE THE SUPREME COURT.

The Supreme Court was occupied all day with the manslaughter charge against Warren Newth, arising out of the recent motor fatality resulting in the deaths of Arthur Ernest Eglinlon, Alfred Edward Penny, and Prank Kidman.
The evidence for the prosecution was that Eglinton’s car was lighted and travelling at a moderate pace on its correct side. Police tests in the locality showed that the accused, with ordinary care, should haveseen Eglinton's car, even il uulighted.
In opening for I he defence, counsel intimated that he would call only jiii independent eye-witness, who saw Eglinton's car approaching uniighlcd and Newth's lighted. Accused, giving evidence, -aid he never exceeded a sliced of twentyeight miles per hour, and although taking every precaution, he never -aw the approaching ear until the impact. The ease is proceeding.
