MURDER CHARGE.
REDUCED TO MANSLAUGHTER
Auckland, August 10
A charge of murdering Douglas Piripi, or Phillips, at Alokan, which was made against a Maori mimed Wi remit Beta, was reduced to one of manslaughter by the Grand lury at the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court. His Honour, in I’eviewiug the 1 case, said that accused's story was that Pripi and he got into grips, Piripi attempted to throttle him, and during the struggle the gun, which belonged to Piripi, went off.
