ROYAL PICTURES.
The programme screened last night will be repeated to-night. To-morrow night “Bill Appcr, son’s Boy” will be screened. The picture was made in a beautiful mountainous region. There is a pretty love story, and realistic action. Jack Bickford is splendid in the role of “boy”—quite the best bit of character acting he has done. A story of humble American life, afi'ectingly real and awakening “Bill Apperson’s Boy” is one of the best First National film productions of its kind. Four characterisations stand out distinctly. The American boy, portrayed by Jack Bickford, is proud and stubborn in his cherished ideals. In perfect harmony is the characterisation by Gloria Hope of a simple and true-hearted American girl in gentle revolt against her un-
happy environment. Strong impersonations arc those given hy Russell Simpson as the boy’s father, and George Nichols as the father of the girl, both hardy old mountaineers of the Blue Kentucky Hill Country. Readers of “The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come” will like this, for it is a faithful depiction of the same scenery and incidents that made the name of John Fox famous.
On Saturday: “Her Kingdom of Dreams,” and “The House of Hate.”
