SIR GEORGE CLIFFORD IN WELLINGTON.
ARRIVES BY MOTOR LAUNCH
Sir George Clifford, president of the* Racing Conference, yesterday reached Wellington by motor launch from Pic ton. The action of the Mokoia’s lireraen in refusing to'take f lic vessel out with Sir George Clifford aboard has not, therefore, had the anticipated effect of preventing his attendance at the opening of the Racing Conference, which will lake place 10-day. When Sir George Clifford made his appearance last night at dinner in the Royal Oak Hotel he was greeted with hearty cheers by the other guests. He bad nothing to say to the Press about his voyage ac.ross Cook SI rail , and he declined to comment on the Mokoia incident.
