FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
„ The Pox ton Horticultural Society held a very pleasant and instructive time in the Presbyterian schoolroom last night, when the members met to show/ their appreciation to Miami Mrs Patterson for the work done by them during Mr Patterson’s ten years tenure of the secretaryship. Apologies for absence were received from Mr A. S. Easton (patron) and Mrs Easton, and the Mayor and others. "Various musical items were given, and these were followed by an address on rose culture and rose pruning by Mr I. Penn, the well-known rose grower of Olaki. At the conclusion of his address Mr Penn gave an exhibition of pruning, which was an eye-open-er to manv of the local cnliiu>Uists. Mr Ronton, president of the .Society, then made a presentation 1,0 the guests of the evening. Mr 1 allerson. in a brief speech, feelingly responded. A vote of thanks to Mi Penn, and to the performers, followed by supper, brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
