The junior represent alive mutch Horowhenua v, la;ni”iHkei is being played ul Levin this al'leruoun. ’Hie team selected to represent H.orowhenua could be irn])roved by the replacing of one or two oi tlic piayois. A fairly strong: set of backs has been chosen, but those would have been muck strengthened had Baker (Buxton) replaced Fogdcn (Oiaki) as half-back. How the selectors overlooked Baker is unaccountable, as lie is undoubtedly the best junior half-back in the Union, and lias played a very solid game in every match this season. Nicholson, w.bo plays half for Waikanae, has been put in the rep. three-quarter line, and this is looked upon as somewhat of tin experiment, and it is probable that a player used to this particular position would have been belter. Of the forwards, the most noticeable absentee is Thompson, of Foxton. whose play should have earned him a position before several oi: the others selected. The selection of Buekman, of Shannon, was a general surprise, there being at least a dozen forwards who should have received consideration befoie hum Robinson, of the Hui Mai Club, one of the forwards selected, was only chosen as emergency forward in the Southern team for the trial match. Referring to the team chosen, the Levin Chronicle says: The backare a good lot, though it is doubtful if the half, Fogden, of Olakq has played the solid game that Baker (Foxton) ha- shown this season.
