Mr Book suggested that a duputatioii of members should go to Wellington and interview the shipping merchants there, and see if it was not. possible to get other vessels to trade to the port. The Board must go forward” or “go back,” and tl limy were to progress, increased traffic was absolutely necessary. H no satisfaction could be got in Wellington. he. for one, was game enough to put money into another company ti! buy a vessel fur the Poixon trade, if the other members were willing to follow suit. If the Palmerston people were prepared to help in this matter there would be no difficulty in getting sufficient capital to purchase another boat. It was decided that the Chairman (Mr Linklater) and Messrs Nash and Bock be a deputation to wait on shipping merchants in Wellington, with a view to getting other vessels to trade to the port, and failing any satisfactory arrangements, that the Board consider the question of getting a boat of their own.
