FOOTBALL.
A meeting 1 of the Union was held on Tuesday evening, Mr J. W. Procter presiding,• the delegates present being Messrs G. Ji. Hemmigson and T. Daizie! (Shannon), T. Wehipemana (Kuku), and W. Wohipciiiana (Manakau). In regard to the Rangitikei Union’s letter for a representative match with Horowhenua on June 12th, it was. decided to send a team to Mart on on that date to meet Rangitikei, the local selector (Mr Martin Winiata) to be manager of the team.
On the motion of the chairman, it was also decided to suggest Jhat the Rangilikei juniors come to Levin on the same day to meet the Horowheima juniors.
In regard to the third grade competition, the chairman slated that
he would, present a cup for this grade. It was decided to commence the matches in a fortnight’s time, the teams so far available being the Rovers (Weraroa), Shannon, Foxlon, and Boys’ Training Farm. The games will be of two spells of 30 minutes, to commence at 1.30, and he curtain-raisers to the senior or junior matches on the same day. Players up to 17 years 'of age will be eligible for this competition, and will he subject to classification, if necessary, from time to time. x On Mr W. Wehipeihana’s motion, it was decided that nothing he done in classifying players until a reply is received from the New Zealand Rugby Union on the matter. Mr Hemraingson asked that a Shannon player, Turau, be transferred to junior rank. —Agreed to. Taranaki reps, defeated..Wanganui, at’Wanganui on Thursday, by 11 points to 8. Wellington defeated Canterbury by 15 to 3, and Hawkes Bav defeated Wairarapa hy id to 11.
