HOCKEY.
The Horowbenua Hockey Association’s competitions were commenced on Saturday. The Foxton team met Excelsior (Levin) on the racecourse, and a very closely contested game resulted. Excelsior winning bytwo goals to one. The local forwards played a particularly good game, and were superior to the -opposing vanguard, particularly in the line-out work. Other games played resulted as follows: — Te Horo -1 v. Shannon 1. Otaki 11, v. Returned Soldiers 1. The following team will represent (lie local Club next Wednesday:— Goal. O'Brien; full backs. Graham, Baker: halves. Bowaler, H. Taylor, A. Walts: forwards, Reid, Bryant, Me Murray, Bail. AfeGregor. Emergencies: Bowe, Taylor, Bnghl.
