DETERMINED SUICIDE.
Dunedin, May 19. Anthony Patterson, a single man, 25 years of age, and a farm labourer, was found dead in his bedroom at the Occidental Hotel this morning. There was a wound in the centre of his forehead, and a .22 Stevens rifle with a discharged cartridge in the chamber was lying on the floor. The body was partly on the bed, and its position seemed to indicate that the deceased shot himself while sitting on the bed. On the dressing-table was a box of .22 cartridges. He was last seen alive yesterday about 1.45 p.m., when he went to his room. Deceased is reported to Imveieft a letter in his room stating that he intended to commit suicide, and saying good-bye to a girl.
