FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

SPECIAL MEETING, A special .meetin}? of the Foxton Harbour Board was bold at Foxtou yesterday, for the purpose, of inspecting the Board's properly, conferring with Mr Fuller, of Messrs Levin and Co., Lid., and general. There were present: Mr J. Linklater (chairman), Messrs W. Bock, D. A\. Malheson, R. R. B. llolben, and W. E. Barber. An apology for absence was received from Air .1. A. Nash, ALP., and Mr Claplunn.

The members first made an inspection of the dredge machinery, which is at present awaiting the construction of a pontoon to carry it before same can be put in commission. It. was reported that the timber for the pontoon had all been ordered, and would all be in Foxton inside of two months. The pontoon will be built at Foxton,

The Board next inspected the wharf and coal bins recently purchased from the West Coast Steamship Company, with a view to ascertaining whether same could be converted into buildings suitable for the handling and sorting of ship’s cargo. Members were unanimously of opinion that without any great outlay these buildings could be so converted.- and it was decided to instruct the Board's engineer (Mr S. Jickell) to immediately prepare plans and submit estimates of the cost of such work. In order to provide more accommodation it was also decided that tenders be invited for the construction of the lirsl section of the Board's new goods shed, which will adjoin the building that is to be altered. In the afternoon an inspection of the Board’s beach properly was made, and it was decided lo lay off thirty additional building sites along the water I'ronl, towards the sea beach, and also'a number of sectioits on both sides of the road at the cast end of the settlement.
