WOOL IN AUSTRAUA.
PROSPECTS OP SHIPMENT.
Details regarding the amount of wool remaining in Australia under the control of the Central Wood Committee and the prospects of finding shipping space for its export were given by the Prime Minister recently. Mr Hughes slated that, during the quarter ended December 31st, 1919, 461,88-1 bales had been shipped from' Australia, and 549,946 bales during quarter ended on March 31st, 1920. Those totals included 100,000 bales shipped for sale in America and 113.000 bales shipped for sale in Antwerp. On the basis of the .shipping space allotted for April, and of the quantities which had been cleared during April, it was estimated that 490,000 hales would ho shipped during the quarter ending June 30th. There would then be between 1.250.000 and 1,500,000 bales of the i wool purchased by the British Gov-
eminent awaiting shipment in Australia. Owing to the uncertainty regarding shipping space allotments and the absence of information regarding requirements for countries other than the United Kingdom, it was impossible to fixe a reliable date by which all this wool would be shipped. The Central Wool Committee was not hopeful, however, that, it would be shipped before the end of this year or early,in 1921.
