meeting was held at the office of the Board on the 11th inst. Present: Mr F. S. Easton (chairman), Messrs Chrystall, W. E. Barber, and King. The Treasurer reported “The overdraft at the Bank of New Zealand is £237 12s 7d, and credit to interest account £0 15s 7d. The financial year commenced with a credit of £0 10s 4d, and closed with a debit of £95 15s 7d. Outside the ordinary drain cleaning, the main Hood gate renewals of hinges and repairs cost £94 Is 2d, and Duck Creek £Ol 12s od. The total cost of drains last season was £323 3s Od, which included £B7 18s 0d on (be main drain, and dragging the 92 chains of the top cut, and £lO 16s 0d on the Diagonal, a total of £lO414s Od, outside the ordinary drain cleaning. The main gate renewals cost £94 Is 2d, and attendance to gates £35. Summarising the drain cleaning for this year, the whole of the ordinary drains and top cut, a total of 837 chains, has been let at a cost of £313 15s Od. This includes an increase of 13s per chain for the 92 chains, Od per chain on Dr. Wall’s and Is per chain on- all'"others, a ’total increase of £94 0s Od. The general rate last year at 7-10th.s of a penny on the unimproved value produced £487 14s 7d, and special at id, £253 0s sd. The same rates this year should be sufficient, the main gate renewals and Duck Creek being non-recurring. The estimates are: Overdraft £95 15s 7d, drains let £313 15s Od, attention-to flood gates £35, clerk £4O, rent of office £26 (less £8 13s 4d) £l7 6s Bd, total £5Ol 17s 3d; less general rate £487 14s od, leaving an estimated overdraft at 31/3/21 of £l4 3s 3d, plus any other expenditure authorised.” Accounts amounting to £230 10s 4d were passed for payment. The annual balance-sheet, as summarised in the treasurer’s statement, was adopted. It was decided to notify the Board’s intention to levy rates on a uniform scale, and to strike a general rate of 7-16rhs of a penny, and collect id of special rate, on the unimproved value, as last year. Estimates for Priestman dredges were submitted, and held over until a latex-meeting.
