FOXTON TRAIN SERVICE.
WHAT PALMERSTON WANTS. A letter was received from the District Railway Traffic Manager, at last night's meeting of the Palmerston Chamber of Commerce, slating that the Foxton Borough Council had requested that the present 8.35 p.m. train from Palmerston should lie altered to leave at 5,35 p.m., and that the present 7 a.m. train from Foxton on Mondays should be altered to leave at 7.50 a.m. It was understood that with the early Hosing of shops and the use made of motor cans, Unit the need for the late train on Saturdays and I lie early train on Mondays for week-end passengers did not now exist to the same extent as heretofore, and that the general public would be better served by making the alterations.
It was decided to write, suggesting that the train on Saturdays should leave at 6.45 p.m., and that the one on .Monday mornings should be continued as at present. It was pointed out the train, if run at 6.35, would enable employees to spend the week-end at Foxton, and that if the time of the Monday’s train-were delayed it would be impossible for week-enders to get back to work in time.
