BY-LAWS BREACHES.
At yesterday's silling; of Ibo Magistrate's Court (he following charges of breaches of the borough by-laws, brought by the poli/-c, were dealt with: —-Harold Osborne and 11. Arden were each lined His, with costs 7s, for riding motor bicycles after dark without lights; Albert Taylor and F, Kickleby were lined Os and costs 7s, for riding bicycles'" at night without lights, ami A. Barnard wa- lined os, and costs 7s, for riding a bicycle on the footpath. The Borough Inspector proceeded against Here Carter and Richard Waller for allowing slock to wander on the streets. Defendants were each lined 10s, with costs 7s.
'l’he Borough Inspector {-I. McKnighl) proceeded against Harold Osborne for plying for hire on April Kith with an unlicensed vehicle. Mr Daniell appeared for defendant. James McKuighl stated that defendant had three earls, only two of which wore licensed. On the dale in question he saw him using (wo (-arts, and told him that he would have to take out; a license for the oilier one. This he .refused to do. Witness said he had seen him using three earls on other occasions.
To Mr Daniell: On April Kith defendant was using two light (‘arts, the heavy dray was not being used that day.
The Town Clerk (Mr Trueman) stated that the third license" had been taken mil since the summons was issued. This' license was tor (he heavv dray.
Mr Daniell submitted that the plaintiff’s case had not been proved, I he third dray not having been used cn April Kitli. The Magistrate ayreed, and dismissed the case. *
Mr Daniell-applied for cods, lad dm Magistrate declined i<> grant same, stating I lint apparently the third dray had been used on other days, hut that the inspector did not happen to catch’ him on the right date (April Kith).
