'the Borough Treasurer reported at Monday night’s Council meeting as followsThe sum of £657 13s 5d was received during the month of March, 1920, and was placed to the credit of accounts as under: District fund account £638 3s sd, cemetery account £l9 10s Od. The balances of the various accounts at the Bank of New Zealand at the 31st day of March were as follows; —-Cemetery £63 4s 4d, hospital and charitable aid £l7 4s Bd, reserves £36 3s lid, sanitation £lO6 11s Od, interest £49 6s Od, all in credit, a total of £272 10s 9d. The accounts at debit were: Gasworks £173 4s 9d, general £343 10s lid, library £8 6s_3d, and Town Hall £l9 5s 6d, total £544 7s sd, SUMMARY. A/cs in cred 272 10 9 Bank Bal. D.F. ' £607 11 9 £607 11 9 The Mayor stated that the Town Clerk had completed the balancesheet for the year ended March 31st, and that same disclosed a very satisfactory position. At (lie beginning’ of the year the amount of the overdraft at the Bank of. New Zealand was £042, and at the close of the year this had been reduced to £335, so that they were £307 to the good on the year’s working. This position reflected credit on the Town Clerk for his careful administration. The amount outstanding was £5 at the end of the year, as compared with £25 twelve months ago. Alien it was taken into consideration that a borough of about the same size not 100 miles away showed rates outstanding at the end of the year at £l4O, it would he seen that FoX--1 mi's position was highly satisfaclorv.
