ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT
The road foreman’s report, as follows, was read and adopted at Monday night’s Council meeting:—
‘‘During the* past month (he mid si a ft' has been principally engaged in the annual drain cleaning, The following, 1 drains have boon completed; A.Avahon, Johnston Sired, Spring and Russell Si reels, Avenue Hoad to ,junction with Spring Street, and Noriiiton Road. Rnion and denks Streets drains are in hand, and these, with the remainder, will he completed as opportunity offers. School notice hoards have boon erected in Park, Duncan and .Johnston Streets, For two of the hoards there were no suitable telegraph poles, so we utilised two old ironbark lamp posts that we had in the yard. Widliave just, received the first melal from Belmont, ijuarry, two trucks arriving this weekend. During the present month we shall ho engaged with the remainder of the drains, spreading and blinding metal as it comes fo hand, cleaning up and burning lupins on new reserve, and lacing up mouth of culvert in Awa.hou drain. We shall also roquirt'to mix a few more yards of asphalt for path in front of new hotel in Main Street. A truck of screenings also’arrived last week.”
