FOXTON FIRE BRIGADE.

Members of the local Fire Brigade and those who assisted in suppressing the recent conflagration, were entertained at a social evening by Mrs Hornhlow, at her residence mst evening. There was a. good muster, ami a very enjoyable time was spent. The card tournament was won by Engineer O’Brien, ami the booby prize (a miniature lire brigade bucket, with the orthodox lettering) was awarded to Fireman H. Fran Ida ml. During (he course of the evening Mr Hornhlow took the opportunity of thanking the brigade upon the splendid ell oris in stemming the recent conflagration, which had resulted m the saving; of two buildings and much valuable property. He asked Mr Whibley to hand a cheque of 110 to the Brigade towards their funds as a mark of appreciation. Air Perreau, on behalf of the brigade, thanked Airs llornblow for the pleasant evening, and also the donors. Some interesting remarks were made in reference to the Brigade, and incidents humorous and otherwise connected with tiie brigade’s first fight were recounted. Items were contributed by Miss Evan's, Messrs Head, Hornblow, Colder, and a clever combined song with violin accompaniment by Air Peter Robinson. Hearty cheers were given for Airs Hornhlow, and the gathering concluded with the National Anthem.
