PALMERSTON NORTH MYSTERY.
INQUEST OPENED. - Palmerston N., March 25. The Coroner’s inquiry was opened 10-day concerning - the circumstances .under which Mary Elheline Web by, a married woman, met her deutli, the body having been found .with the throat cat, on Thursday morning last, in an unformed street between Pilzroy street and Rnahine street. Aledical evidence as to the wound was given. The abdominal organs were quite healthy. There were no other marks on the body. Considerable force must have been used to effect the injury. Witness thought it possible that the wound could have been self-inflicted, but the absence of any instrument would preclude this theory. Considerable evidence was given ' by witnesses who saw deceased during the day. Further evidence was giveil by Percy Daniel Wills as to seeing deceased in the company of a man near to where the body was found on the evening preceding the tragedy. Next morning he found deceased’s body, and informed the police. At this stage the inquest was adjourned to Tuesday next.
