A small Jersey cow caused considerable amusement in Courtenay Street, New Plymouth, the other day. The animal was being driven by two boys on horseback, and entered a garden gate at the corner of Hobson Street. A passer-by offered to drive it out, but by the lime he had entered the garden the cow had-gone into the house and penetrated into the diningroom, causing no little surprise. Driven out, the cow -walked round the garden, and when passing the front door again could not resist another peep into the house. This time she went into a bedroom and reappeared through a, French window on the verandah. Thence her course avus directed to the road, and she trotted on in search of new adventures*
One of the largest strikes that the world has ever known occurred in Egypt during the reign of Cheops, several thousand years before the Christian era.
