ROBBERY AT LEVIN.
A daring rohhery took place in Levin during Friday night or early on Saturday morning, when the premises of Mr 11. Walker, of Oxford Street, were entered and a sum of Clio in notes stolen. The local paper >ays that Mr Walker returned home, about 11 o'clock, and shortly afterwards retired to lied. At that time lie had ”27 10c in Ids poscescion—• the money being in two rolls, one containing £25 and the other £2 10s. On awakening about (i o’clock in the morning, Mr Walker was surprised lo see his trousers lying on the bedroom (lour, and a search showed that the large roll of £25 had disappeared, but the odd £2 10s lay near at hand, having evidently been dropped by the thief. The intruder had apparently gained admittance by the hack door of the premises, which was unlocked, as none of thu other doors or windows were tampered with. On discovery of his iocs Mr Walker communicated with the police, who now have the matter in hand. The police captured the thief in the .Foxlon district, and recovered 1 he stolen money intact.
