From time immemorial, from the period of the ancient Greeks and Romans, historical .events have been commemorated in Embroidery. What, therefore, could be more appropriate than that the Great Peace of 1919 should thus be commemorated. To do this, appropriate designs and colour schemes have to be devised that will in some way embody the idea of Peace. The Dove is emblematic of Peace, and Dove colour is the French Grey which was so "popular in France at the court of Louis XIV. ' »■ The Embroidery, therefore, is worked in Dove colour or French Grey, on a white ground. The effect is so taste- 1 fid and delicate that it can only be adequately described by the French word “ chic.” Then for designs, what could be more appropriate than the rose of England and the cornflower of France, the floral emblems of the two nations which have borne the greatest burden of the war. Versailles Embroidery is eminently suitable for Wedding Gifts. Here are charming and exclusive examples at moderate prices.
