FREEZING WORKS CLOSING, 1 Hastings, Feh. *2O, The shipping queslion in Hawke .-! Bay has been threatening for a considerable time. It has now become so acute that Borthwiek and Sons’ works at. Pakipaki had to close down this morning owing to the stores being blocked. In consequence about 100 men have been thrown out of work. Three other freezing work's operating in the district rapidly are ap» oroaehing the same position. The situation is becoming desperate unless prompt relief, is afforded.
