AL FRESCO CONCERT.

AT THE SEASIDE. Mr and -Mrs. Freeman organised an open-air concert at the local seaside on Thursday night, in aid of the funds of All Saints' Home, Palmerston X. A large number of people were present, and the night was perfect. An improvised platform was ■ arranged- on • a rise near the store, for ''which thanks is due to Mr Barley. The Borough Band played a number of selections, prior to .the concert programme. All the items wore much appreciated, judging by the applause and the tooting of motor horns. The unaccompanied singing by the Maori choir was a. line'feature of the entertainment. Prior to the al fresco concert, Messrs Bayley and Freeman judged the artistic sand castles and layouts by the children of All Saints’ Home and Dust in’s. The judges felt Dial they could not discriminate between the two, and awarded, equal merit. As a result of (he entertainment a sum of ten guineas was handed to the Homo. This amount included a* sale of flowers by Misses Calls a.ud Gladys Griffin. The following is the programme, all the items being encored“ Song, “Joan of Arc,” .Miss Bryant; monologue,, “A Trip to Blackpool,” little. Miss Belle Pearson; song, “The Rose of Xo Man’s Land,” Mrs L. Bullard; quartette/ “'Eileen Alanmih,” .Mrs Freeman and Messrs Head, Peter and' Hajn Hakaraia, humorous items, Mr Hornblow; song, “When You Come Back Again,” Miss Bryant; duct, “A Perfect Day,” Mrs Freeman and Peter Hakaraia; inslrumcntal item, “Destiny,” Mr Chas. Simmons; song, “Waiting,” Mrs Bullard;'“Annie Laurie,” and other unaccompanied items by the Maori Choir; song, “Alien the Great Big World keeps Turning,” Mrs Freeman. Mr Freeman thanked all who had assisted to make the concert such a success, and Mr Ontrim, “uncle” to the Home, returned, thanks mr behalf oi the matron and vbihlren. ’file “Xalional Anthem” brought a novel and very interesting fund ion to a close.
