If we expect to . get firstclass workmen we must provide first-class accommodation, and 1 would recommend the Council to build two extra rooms and effect other improvements to the old cottage that may be found necessary to make the cot tage, more comfortable. Complete cures of leprosy have been effected at the Kalihi Territorial Hospital, Honolulu. In the past few months 20 patients have been discharged, without one recurrence of the disease. Chaulmogra oil, obtained from the seeds of the Taraxogenes Kjurzii, for 50 years known as the specific for leprosy, is the only medicine used. The oil is perfected by a x’efining' process discovered by Dr. A. L. Dean, Professor of Chemistry and President of the University of Hawaii. Blood tests of the discharged patients have revealed no trace of the leprosy germ.
